Public Adjusters only work on property claims, such as homeowners, apartment complexes, and businesses. They do not represent clients in auto or liability claims.
Before hiring a public adjuster you should do the following:
Use your computer search engine and search for “Public Adjuster” along with your city or zip code. Look in the Yellow Pages under “Public Adjusters
Contact two Public adjusters in your area and interview them with these questions:
v How many years have you been a Public adjuster?
v Can you provide a list of at least ten satisfied customers with phone numbers?
v Do you have documentation of your success in insurance settlements?
v Have you ever had a complaint filed against you with the Department of Insurance?
v Please explain your fees and how you are paid.
v Are you licensed in your state?
